File photo\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheikha Asma Al Thani has been named as Pakistan&#8217;s tourism ambassador. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has named Qatari royal and elite mountaineer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gulfnews.com\/world\/asia\/pakistan\/qatari-princess-conquers-pakistans-killer-mountain-in-a-historic-climb-1.500191073\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheikha Asma Al Thani<\/a>\u00a0as Pakistan\u2019s Brand Ambassador for Mountains and Tourism, following her historic summit of Nanga Parbat, one of the world\u2019s most dangerous peaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement came shortly after Sheikha Asma became the first Qatari woman to scale the 8,126-metre peak known as \u201cKiller Mountain\u201d, located in Pakistan\u2019s Gilgit-Baltistan region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her appointment as Pakistan\u2019s tourism ambassador is being seen as both a diplomatic gesture and a strategic move to promote Pakistan\u2019s vast mountain ranges as a global destination for high-altitude adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement posted on social media platform X, Prime Minister Sharif praised Sheikha Asma&#8217;s feat as a \u201cpowerful message of courage and determination\u201d and a symbol of the enduring ties between Pakistan and Qatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He wrote: \u201cI am pleased to appoint Her Highness Sheikha Asma Al Thani as the Brand Ambassador for Pakistan\u2019s Mountains and Tourism.<a href=\"https:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/article\/4783901-stay-in-may-top-5-dividend-stocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHer recent achievement of summiting Nanga Parbat is truly inspiring. It stands as a testament to resilience and showcases the immense potential of Pakistan&#8217;s mountain tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A deadly peak<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Known for its treacherous conditions and deadly climbing history, Nanga Parbat has long held the ominous nickname of \u201cKiller Mountain.\u201d Last week, Czech mountaineer Kl\u00e1ra Kolouchov\u00e1, 46, tragically died during an expedition on the same peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Sheikha Asma, this summit marked her ninth successful ascent of the world\u2019s 14 \u201ceight-thousanders\u201d &#8212; peaks over 8,000 meters &#8212; as part of her quest to become one of the few climbers, and even fewer women, to conquer them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cAlhamdulillah, Nanga Parbat. My ninth 8000er and one of the toughest climbs I\u2019ve faced,\u201d she wrote on Instagram. \u201cThis mountain tested me in ways I didn\u2019t expect\u2026 a constant reminder of how fragile life truly is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added: \u201cThere was surrender, and there was strength I didn\u2019t know I still had. I climb not just to reach summits, but to return to what matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A symbol of empowerment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the summit, Sheikha Asma raised the Qatari flag, a symbolic act that resonated far beyond mountaineering circles.
