And when I say \u2018deep\u2019, I mean it. Many of these facilities are extremely well-protected. The IAEA had recently described Iran\u2019s cooperation as \u201cless than satisfactory\u201d, particularly in clarifying past nuclear activities at undeclared locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US and Iran are trying to strike a new nuclear deal after a 2015 agreement was abandoned by US President Donald Trump in 2018 during his first term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump described Iran on Monday as a \u201ctough\u201d and skilled negotiator, as Washington continues indirect nuclear talks with Tehran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing a lot of work on Iran right now,\u201d Trump said during a White House economic event. \u201cIt\u2019s tough \u2026 They\u2019re great negotiators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s office confirmed the two leaders spoke on Monday, with Trump assuring him that negotiations with Iran would continue later in the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/5\/28\/trump-warns-netanyahu-off-iran-strike-as-nuclear-talks-continue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surprise comment last week<\/a>, Trump said he had warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to jeopardise the fragile negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI told him this would be inappropriate to do right now because we\u2019re very close to a solution,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It remains unclear when the next round of indirect negotiations will take place.
