The initiative is expected to ease traffic pressure across the city, support better-planned urban growth, and serve as an alternative route for both commuters and freight movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 8.7-kilometer section, known as Phase-I, is being developed at a cost of Rs.9.67 billion. It includes the main road, underpasses, bridges, and utility relocation. For efficient execution, the project has been broken into four separate construction packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contract has already been awarded, and machinery and workforce have been mobilized to begin work on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved Phase-I on March 3, 2025, under a non-ADP (Annual Development Programme) arrangement. However, the construction of flyovers and service roads has been reserved for Phase-II, which carries an estimated cost of Rs.9.65 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Phase-III will focus on electrification and related infrastructure, with a budget of Rs.1.879 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to PDA Director General Naeem Khan, tenders for Phase-I were issued and opened on April 23, 2025. Following this, the chief minister directed that construction be completed within six months.
