He described the hospitality they received in China as exceptional and said the visit provided valuable lessons for Pakistan’s judicial reform efforts.

Justice Afridi highlighted a key contrast between the two systems: while Pakistan’s judiciary struggles with thousands of pending cases, the Supreme People’s Court of China, with 367 judges, has no case backlog—a fact that surprised the Chinese judiciary when they learned of Pakistan’s situation.

“When asked how we plan to manage our pending cases, I told them that we came specifically to study their system and learn from their use of technology,” he said.

He stressed that integrating advanced judicial technologies is essential to streamlining Pakistan’s legal processes, but cautioned that such solutions are not instant fixes. “Technology is not a magic pill. Without reliable data, even AI cannot function properly,” he added.

Justice Afridi also noted a surprising observation: the technological infrastructure in Pakistan’s five high courts is currently more advanced than that of the Supreme Court, signaling the need for modernization at the top judicial level.

Reference Link:- https://propakistani.pk/2025/05/06/china-to-help-pakistan-in-resolving-pending-court-cases/

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, announced on Tuesday that Pakistan will begin adopting Chinese judicial technology to help address the long-standing backlog of cases in the country’s courts, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV.
