Pakistan has conducted a successful training launch of the Abdali Weapon System, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 kilometres, the military\u2019s media affairs wing said on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile\u2019s advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuverability features,\u201d the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It noted that the launch was a part of \u201cEx Indus\u201d and was witnessed by the commander of the Army Strategic Forces Command (AFSC), senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division and the AFSC, as well as scientists and engineers from Pakistan\u2019s strategic organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISPR also released a video<\/a> of the successful launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and the services chiefs extended their congratulations to the participating troops, scientists, and engineers, the ISPR said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey expressed complete confidence in the operational preparedness and technical proficiency of Pakistan\u2019s Strategic Forces to ensure credible minimum deterrence and safeguard national security against any aggression,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The test launch comes amid heightened tensions between nuclear powers Pakistan and India in the wake of New Delhi\u2019s aggressive measures in the wake of a deadly attack in occupied Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The April 22 attack<\/a> in Pahalgam killed 26 people<\/a>, mostly tourists, in one of the deadliest assaults since 2000. India has implied cross-border links without evidence, while Pakistan has rejected<\/a> the claim and called for a neutral probe<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tensions have since spiked, with Pakistan reinforcing its forces<\/a> as it expected<\/a> an incursion and India\u2019s premier granting \u201coperational freedom<\/a>\u201d to his military. Pakistan witnessed<\/a> shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in AJK for a week since April 25<\/a>, with the Pakistan Army responding<\/a> to unprovoked Indian firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts in Pakistan told AFP<\/em> the missile launch was a warning shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt clearly indicates that we have the resources to counter India. This is not a message only for India but the rest of the world that we are well-prepared,\u201d said Hasan Askari Rizvi, a military analyst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Thursday asserted that any \u201cmisadventure\u201d by India would be met with a \u201cswift, resolute and notch-up response<\/a>\u201d. The next day, the army\u2019s top brass also warned India of a \u201csure and decisive<\/a>\u201d response should it attempt to impose war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As temperatures remain high, diplomatic channels have been engaged to prevent conflict, with the United States<\/a> and the European Union<\/a> contacting top Pakistani and Indian leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2024, Pakistan conducted a successful training launch of the Shaheen-II<\/a> surface-to-surface ballistic missile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
