A day prior, he&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1889913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">met<\/a>&nbsp;Chinese President Xi Jinping, as both sides noted the \u201cpositive trajectory\u201d of their bilateral relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the statement, during his meeting with the Chinese prime minister, President Zardari highlighted the \u201cenduring and deep-rooted China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, nurtured by successive generations of the leaders of both countries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He reiterated Pakistan\u2019s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, emphasising the time-tested, deep-rooted, and enduring partnership between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zardari also talked about the \u201cpivotal role of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1859930\/new-cpec-phase-will-transform-the-countrys-economy-pm-shehbaz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China-Pakistan Economic Corridor<\/a>&nbsp;(CPEC) in promoting regional connectivity and economic growth and expressed appreciation for China\u2019s continued support towards Pakistan\u2019s development agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beijing has over $65 billion in investment in road, infrastructure and development projects under CPEC as part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1856317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Belt and Road scheme<\/a>, which is termed a \u201clifeline\u201d for the country\u2019s economy. In December 2024, Islamabad and Beijing decided to focus on CPEC with fresh commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe two sides discussed the high-quality development under CPEC 2.0, focusing on deepening cooperation in renewable energy, science &amp; technology, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors to further advance shared progress and common prosperity,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also discussed the opportunities to enhance trade and economic cooperation through business-to-business (B2B) and private-sector linkages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth sides underlined the importance of expanding people-to-people and cultural exchanges to build a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Zardari\u2019s visit to China comes a few days after the Foreign Office (FO)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1888036\/fo-rejects-baseless-allegations-targeting-pakistans-commitment-to-one-china-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cbaseless and unfounded\u201d allegations targeting Pakistan\u2019s commitment to China\u2019s policies following Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi\u2019s attendance at an event in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naqvi reportedly made a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1887810\/mohsin-naqvi-clarifies-he-did-not-attend-event-against-china-during-us-visit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diplomatic misstep<\/a>&nbsp;by attending an event hosted by the New Federal State of China, the US-based political lobby, composed of Chinese dissidents and Americans, that advocates for the overthrow of China\u2019s ruling Communist Party, a major ally of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numerous statements were later issued by Pakistani officials and the FO reaffirming the relationship with China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reference Link:- <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1890127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1890127<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing, with the two sides vowing to strengthen the Pakistan-China strategic cooperative partnership, according to a statement from the President\u2019s House.
