{"id":13807,"date":"2025-01-24T05:56:01","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T05:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=13807"},"modified":"2025-01-24T05:56:02","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T05:56:02","slug":"pakistan-fo-urges-world-to-develop-concrete-plan-to-rebuild-gaza-demands-accountability-for-israeli-crimes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=13807","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan: FO urges world to develop \u2018concrete plan\u2019 to rebuild Gaza, demands accountability for Israeli crimes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Foreign Office on Thursday called on the international community to devise a \u201cconcrete plan\u201d for the reconstruction of Gaza while demanding accountability for Israeli crimes that cost thousands of Palestinian lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Israel and Hamas agreed to a long-awaited&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1885541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ceasefire<\/a>&nbsp;in Gaza which&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1886201\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">began<\/a>&nbsp;on Sunday followed by a hostage and prisoner&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1886654\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exchange<\/a>, pausing the conflict after 15 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estimates by the Palestinian health ministry show that more than 47,100 Gazans lost their lives to Israeli attacks since the conflict began, with the majority being civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, about 90 per cent of Gaza\u2019s 2.3 million residents were forcibly displaced due to the conflict, with some 92pc (436,000) of housing units in Gaza destroyed or damaged, in addition to 80pc commercial facilities, acording to&nbsp;<em>Al Jazeera<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dawn.com\/large\/2025\/01\/2314245134a73b8.jpg\" alt=\"A drone view shows Palestinians sitting next to the rubble of destroyed houses and buildings, following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, January 22, 2025. \u2014 Reuters\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A drone view shows Palestinians sitting next to the rubble of destroyed houses and buildings, following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, January 22, 2025. \u2014 Reuters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking during a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan highlighted the importance of rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure in Gaza during the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe urge the international community to develop a concrete plan for the reconstruction of Gaza in line with UNSC resolutions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also called for the accountability of Israeli crimes committed in this \u201cbrutal war\u201d, saying it was an essential element in restoring international legitimacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcoming the ceasefire deal, Khan reiterated Pakistan\u2019s support for a two-state solution and condemned the recent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1886801\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Israeli raid<\/a>&nbsp;in the Jenin refugee camp of West Bank which resulted in the killing of 10 Palestinians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cSuch actions potentially undermine the precarious ceasefire in Gaza and the international community should take note of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1887184#no-support-for-isis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>\u2018No support for ISIS\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Separately, Khan denied claims of supporting the banned militant Islamic State (ISIS) group. He said, \u201cWe strongly reject Afghanistan\u2019s allegations of supporting ISIS. We urge the Afghan administration to dismantle the terrorist camps of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1885161\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;that the only points of contention between the two countries were the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1880832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presence<\/a>&nbsp;of the banned TTP in Afghanistan and cross-border attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Security forces on Sunday&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1886407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">killed<\/a>&nbsp;five terrorists who were attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1887184#on-migrant-boat-accidents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>On migrant boat accidents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1885777\/atlantic-boat-tragedy-claims-lives-of-dozens-of-pakistanis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlantic Ocean mig\u00adrant boat tragedy<\/a>, the FO spokesperson said that 25 Pakistanis had fortunately survived the accident, and the list of survivors was shared with the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe incident was being further monitored and the Moroccan authorities fully cooperated fully in all matters,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The boat tragedy occurred in the waters bet\u00adween Mauri\u00adtania and Moro\u00adcco earlier this month.
