{"id":12967,"date":"2025-01-10T05:50:53","date_gmt":"2025-01-10T05:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=12967"},"modified":"2025-01-10T05:50:56","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T05:50:56","slug":"indian-rupee-continues-to-fall-registers-all-time-record-low-at-at-85-92-against-dollar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=12967","title":{"rendered":"Indian Rupee Continues to Fall, Registers All-Time Record Low at At 85.92 Against Dollar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>The rupee has continued to fall in recent months and is gradually inching towards the Rs.86 mark against dollar.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rupee continued its fall and hit a record low of 85.92 against the US Dollar on early Thursday (January 9) in a third straight session of downfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier on Wednesday (January 8), the rupee had depreciated by 17 paise and had closed at a record low of Rs. 85.91 against the dollar, reported the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/markets\/rupee-falls-1-paisa-to-record-low-of-8592-against-us-dollar-in-early-trade\/article69079244.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Press Trust of India<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rupee has continued to fall in recent months and is gradually inching towards the Rs.86 mark against dollar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two months back, by November 2024, the rupee had already fallen to Rs. 84.50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On January 9, the 10-year US bond yields also remained elevated at 4.66 per cent amid expectations of delayed interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve on better growth prospects of the world\u2019s largest economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dollar index too stayed elevated at 108.80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the rupee continues to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thewire.in\/economy\/rupee-86\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plunge<\/a>&nbsp;under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government\u2019s tenure, It is interesting to note what Modi had said when the rupee fell during former Prime Minister Late Manmohan Singh\u2019s tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe rupee is in the hospital and is admitted to the ICU,\u201d Modi had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraphindia.com\/gallery\/rupee-is-in-icu-as-indias-currency-touches-new-low-six-narendra-modi-quotes-to-remember-photogallery\/cid\/2073532?slide=4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;at an event in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 20, 2013, when the rupee had hit a then record low, Modi said, \u201cIn the last three months, even with the pace at which the rupee is falling the government is not doing anything.
