{"id":11962,"date":"2024-12-21T04:23:14","date_gmt":"2024-12-21T04:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=11962"},"modified":"2024-12-21T04:23:16","modified_gmt":"2024-12-21T04:23:16","slug":"india-protests-over-deleted-social-media-post-by-bangladesh-interim-government-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=11962","title":{"rendered":"India Protests Over Deleted Social Media Post By Bangladesh Interim Government Official"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>In a now-deleted Facebook post, Alam talked about carving out parts of eastern and north-eastern India and adding them to Bangladesh.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India has submitted a \u201cstrong protest\u201d over the now-deleted social media post of a member of Bangladesh\u2019s interim government who talked about carving out parts of eastern and north-eastern India and adding them to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the weekly briefing on Friday, external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India has \u201cregistered our strong protest on this issue with the Bangladesh side\u201d in answer to a question about a Facebook post by Mahfuj Alam, special assistant to the interim government\u2019s chief adviser Muhammad Yunus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While acknowledging that the post has been taken down, Jaiswal also noted, \u201cWe would like to remind all concerned to be mindful of their public comments\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile India has repeatedly signalled interest in fostering relations with the people and the interim government of Bangladesh, such comments underline the need for responsibility in public articulation,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bengali-language Facebook post by Alam, as per screenshots available on social media, claimed that Bangladesh\u2019s liberation struggle would remain incomplete without removing the country from its \u201ctrap of geography\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He wrote that India had adopted a \u201ccontain and ghettoise\u201d program. Referring to the 1947 partition as a result of the \u201canti-Bengal\u201d policy of Hindu extremists and elites, Alam apparently stated that uprisings in 1975 and 2024 had \u201cto happen to free this state from India\u2019s dependence and domination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhakatribune.com\/bangladesh\/foreign-affairs\/359658\/dr-yunus-introduces-mahfuz-alam-as-mastermind-of\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A leader of the students\u2019 movement<\/a>, Alam had posted on December 16, the anniversary of Bangladesh\u2019s Liberation War, which saw the country become independent from Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s relationship with Bangladesh has cooled following the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through a students-led movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasina, who was perceived as close to India during her 15 years in power, fled to Delhi on August 5 as crowds rushed to storm the prime minister\u2019s office complex.&nbsp;She remains in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thewire.in\/diplomacy\/india-bangladesh-first-foreign-secretary-level-talks-after-hasina-ouster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indian foreign secretary Vikram Misri visited Dhaka<\/a>, the first such bilateral trip since August 5, where he conveyed that New Delhi wanted \u201cmutually beneficial\u201d relations with Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following Hasina\u2019s ouster, the Indian government repeatedly expressed concern about attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bangladeshi interim government has talked about the need to protect minorities but also claimed that Indian media was exaggerating the issue to align with a political narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reference Link:- <a href=\"https:\/\/thewire.in\/diplomacy\/india-lodges-protest-deleted-post-bangladesh-mahfuj-alam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/thewire.in\/diplomacy\/india-lodges-protest-deleted-post-bangladesh-mahfuj-alam<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a now-deleted Facebook post, Alam talked about carving out parts of eastern and north-eastern India and adding them to Bangladesh.
