{"id":11482,"date":"2024-12-12T03:42:52","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T03:42:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=11482"},"modified":"2024-12-12T03:42:53","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T03:42:53","slug":"adb-approves-330mn-financing-to-bolster-pakistans-social-protection-programmes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=11482","title":{"rendered":"ADB approves $330mn financing to bolster Pakistan\u2019s social protection programmes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Result-based loan to expand grassroots-level social protection, lender says<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/channel\/UCFWx0mweS7ExXjs3s_wH0CQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BusinessRecorder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/businessrecorder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brecordernews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/feeds\/latest-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday approved an additional $330 million in financing to strengthen Pakistan\u2019s federally administered social protection programmes under the ongoing Integrated Social Protection Development Program (ISPDP).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe result-based loan for the ongoing ISPDP will help expand the grassroots-level social protection to alleviate poverty among poor women and their families,\u201d read a statement released by the ADB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Manila-based lender was of the view that the programme would enhance the institutional capacity of the country\u2019s Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to transition to adaptive and climate-resilient social protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis will include enhancing access to education pathways for children and youth from poor families and increasing access to health services and nutrition supplies for beneficiaries who are in disaster-prone areas,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/news\/40334921\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pakistan receives $500 million from ADB for climate programme<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis programme strengthens Pakistan\u2019s effort to improve human capital development and reduce intergenerational poverty, especially for women who are disproportionately affected during difficult economic situations,\u201d said ADB Director General for Central and West Asia Yevgeniy Zhukov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cADB\u2019s additional financing will help boost the government\u2019s ability to reach more of the poorest and most vulnerable in Pakistan,\u201d Zhukov added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approved in December 2021, the ISPDP includes a $600 million loan from ADB\u2019s ordinary capital resources, a $3 million grant from the Asian Development Fund, and a $24.48 million co-financing grant from the Education Above All Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ADB said that the $627 million programme has achieved significant results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe programme is performing well.
