Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Wildlife, Farooq Nabi, revealed that the hunter secured the permit for the first Markhor of the season by offering more than Rs. 7 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hunter successfully hunted a Markhor with horns exceeding 49 inches in length, making it a remarkable trophy due to its exceptional size, as shared by the DFO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wildlife authorities added that during an auction held in October this year, two hunting permits were sold for a record $271,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July 2024, Pakistan called on the international community to unite to conserve the Markhor, which plays a crucial role in the ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Markhor holds great importance for Pakistan as it is our national animal,\u201d said Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan\u2019s permanent representative to the UN.
